5 Tips for Organizing the Perfect Indoor Winter Birthday Party
As the snow is gracefully falling down outside and it’s just too hard or too chilly to leave the heated floors and soft blankets at home, we can confidently say it’s better to stay indoors. Opt to stay indoors for the winter season to celebrate your child’s birthday, keeping the comfort of you and your guests as a top priority. Here are Partify’s 5 tips and ideas for the perfect winter party:1. Organize a Sleepover
When you’re younger, the best thing to do is to go to a sleepover with your bestest buddies...but planning one yourself is a different story. That’s why we’re here to help.
The first tip is to figure out a theme for your party. In order to make the sleepover more interesting and fun, it’s best to decide on a theme (for example a princess or a dinosaur theme) and then everything can be organized around the theme - including choosing the movie, games, snacks and party favors. After establishing the gist of the party, it’s time to send out the invitations to the invitees, depending on the house size, even 3-4 close buddies will suffice for a fun, festive celebration.
Remember to always ask for allergies and preferences from guests in order to accommodate their likings as well.
Throw some fluffy blankets onto the couch, prepare some pretzels in a bowl, and have a themed movie night. This party option is simple, cozy and light on the wallet.
2. Bake Delicious Seasonal Treats
Offer seasonal treats in addition to, or even instead of a traditional cake. By baking a dessert specific to the relevant time of year, you can surprise your guests and create a festive atmosphere. Add winter favorites to your gathering, like those listed below, for that extra punch.
Chocolate-Covered Reindeer Holiday Cookies
Ingredients you’ll need:
- 1 cup chocolate candy melts
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 12 candy googly eyes
- 6 mini pretzels
- 6 red candy-coated chocolates (M&M’s will work great)
Step 1: Melt the candy melts by putting them in a bowl and microwaving for 30 seconds. Add in coconut oil and stir until smooth consistency
Step 2: Dip the Oreo cookies into melted chocolate and gently place on the lined sheet
Step 3: Use googly eyes, pretzels and red candy coated chocolates to decorate your cookie into a reindeer
Step 4: Allow to set in refrigerator for 10-15 minutes

Polar Bear Hot Chocolate
Ingredients you’ll need:
- 1 jumbo marshmallow
- 1 standard-sized marshmallow
- 2 mini marshmallows
- 2 candy eyeballs
- 1 chocolate candy (I used peanut butter M&M’s)
- melted white chocolate/almond bark
Step 1: Set aside the jumbo marshmallow as the base, and cut up ⅓ of standard sized marshmallows to create the polar bear’s muzzle
Step 2: Melt the White chocolate/almond bark (any preferred chocolate works) and use it to attach the ⅓ cut standard marshmallow onto the jumbo marshmallow
Step 3: Repeat step 2, but use the chocolate to attach the 2 candy eyeballs and the mini marshmallows (for the ears of the polar bear)
Step 4: Prepare the hot chocolate (Recommended: Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate Mix)
Step 5: Put polar bear creation on top of hot chocolate.

3. Design a Wonderland Inside of Your Home
Since you’ll be indoors, don’t forget to take advantage of the space you have. In a closed space, it is easier to create a decorated setting with options that are easily accessible from a simple click on your laptop. When you decide to stay at home, there are no boundaries for what you want to decorate and where you want to decorate it. Hang up the “Happy Birthday” sign on your couch if that’s what looks good to you, no one can stop your flow because this is your domain. You are also not bound to “30 minutes set up time” like most venues allow, so you can do it the night before or even a few days in advance (anything that is not balloons). Due to the cold weather, we suggest turning the living room into a magical winterland to match the outside weather. 4. Host a Costume Party
Kids just can’t stay away from the dress-up and fantasization of being their favorite Disney character, so why not make your celebration a costume party? Ask your guests to come in as their favorite princess, superhero, or even villain. It would be even better if there was a birthday theme, we suggest simple ideas such as: Super heroes, Farm animals, Foods, or favorite TV show. After choosing your theme, make sure to decorate the venue with lots of streamers and colors pertaining to the theme.
5. Make an Indoor “Bonfire”
You don’t need a fire to make a fireside snack. Warm marshmallows covered with melted chocolate squished between graham crackers will surely excite kids regardless of the temperature or setting. Stay inside and create this classic sweet treat with just a microwave (no need for more than 15 seconds) or stove. Adult supervision is recommended.
Lastly, in a winter party keep in mind to have a designated area for coats and an umbrella bucket, even an area to take off shoes to make sure people don’t bring inside the rain/ snow/ mud etc.
We loved sharing with you our tips and hope you can incorporate some seasonal tips and tricks to your warm and cozy party. It can be a bit hectic to set up an indoor winter party, but in the end, we promise it will be worth it as your child enjoys the celebration with friends and family.
